Cheshire & Warrington Off Gas Grid Study

Cheshire & Warrington Off Gas Grid Study - July 2010

Background

Study commissioned by the Cheshire & Warrington Enterprise Commission and the Northwest Regional Development Agency and carried out by The Mersey Forest. The purpose of the study was to identify companies in Cheshire and Warrington that were off the gas grid and highlight the opportunities available to them by using alternative lower carbon heating technologies.

Phase 1 of the study focussed on GIS mapping of the businesses within the sub region that were off the gas grid. Phase 2 focussed on contacting these businesses to raise awareness of the Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) planned for implementation in 2011 and the opportunities around this i.e. generating an income for the business. Businesses in the fuel/rural energy supply chain were also contacted.
