Ellesmere Port and Neston

Ellesmere Port and Neston is in the North West of Cheshire spanning the southern part of the Wirral peninsula, stretching from the River Dee on one side to the Mersey on the other. It is a place of contrasts, with beautiful countryside and parks and top tourist attractions combined with industrial and commercial heritage and fine shopping providing something of interest for everyone.

The borough's biggest town is Ellesmere Port, which is situated off the M53 close to its junction with the M56. The town developed when commercial trading started along the Shropshire Union Canal and later the Manchester Ship Canal. The town centre is now home to a busy shopping centre and market. To the west of the borough lie the rural villages of Willaston, Ness and Burton. While Neston, a bustling town with a market and Parkgate a popular bathing resort in the 18th century, situated on the Dee estuary looking across to the mountains of North Wales.
