| Welcome to the second Cheshire and Warrington ERDF newsletter, continuing to provide you with the most up to date information on the European Regional Development Fund and the projects that can help you to improve your business.
This includes issues of finance, help and advice for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Cheshire and Warrington. You are entitled to help from all regional projects even though the project deliverers may not be based in Cheshire and Warrington.
Due to the overwhelming response from the previous newsletter we selected three projects in this issue. It’s all about innovation. |

| Innovation Specialist Brokerage Service |
Your first “port of call” for advice about developing your business should be Business Link. Business Link Northwest have received £3.2m to develop and implement an Innovation Specialist Brokerage Service, which will enable them to provide information, diagnosis and brokerage support on innovation-related business issues.

| The Energy Innovation Centre |
|
| Do you have a great innovation which could revolutionise the energy industry? If so, Cheshire’s world-class Energy Innovation Centre wants to hear from you.
Together with its partners - which include four of Britain’s biggest electricity companies – the Energy Innovation Centre is looking for individuals and SMEs with products or services which can:

Enhance the quality of electricity supply for customers

Minimise power loss or interruption to networks
-
Improve the management of assets such as pylons, substations and overhead cables
-
Support the Smart Grid communications network in its facilitation of clean energy, efficiency and reliability.

| The Innovation Voucher Scheme |
|
| The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) is running this £4m scheme to encourage Northwest businesses owners, entrepreneurs and social enterprises to purchase a knowledge provider's expertise to develop innovation and enhance their businesses.
The scheme allows you to access expertise available to you from further education and higher education institutions across the Northwest which will help you to innovate, increase productivity and improve your competitiveness in today’s globally challenging environment.

| Renewable Energy in Social Housing Project |
|
| CWEC is currently working with X social landlords to develop the Renewable Energy in Social Housing project.
The aim of this project is to increase the number of houses in Cheshire and Warrington that are utilising renewable energy technologies to generate their own power thereby enabling the sub region to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions.

| ERDF funding is available to SMEs through Business Link for numerous other projects.
So if you cannot wait for the next newsletter visit the ERDF pages on our website or on the regional website where you will find a list of other Regional Projects available to support business development and encourage innovation. |

European Regional Development Fund Between 2007 and 2013 the Northwest of England will receive a total of £521million (dependent on exchange rate) from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Managed by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), this funding will enhance the competitiveness of the region’s economy by supporting growth in employment and enterprise.
