Latest Unemployment Figures for Cheshire and Warrington - July 2010
Unemployment figures for Cheshire and Warrington and the rest of the Northwest are now available based on those claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA).
Unemployment Rates in Cheshire East
- The rate of unemployment in Cheshire East fell from 2.8% to 2.7% of the working age population.
- The number of people claiming unemployment benefit in Cheshire East fell by 168 to 5,805. This figure is 879 claimants less than one year ago.
- Figures have generally fallen from their peak of 7,210 in August 2009, with slight seasonal increases in January and February.
Unemployment Rates in Cheshire West and Chester
- The rate of unemployment in Cheshire West and Chester fell from 3.2% to 3.1%
- The number of people claiming unemployment benefit decreasing by 199 to 6,173. Again the figure is considerably lower than a year ago – 917 less – the number was highest in July 2009 with 7,427 claimants.
Unemployment Rates in Warrington
- In Warrington the claimant rate fell from 3.7% to 3.5% - this is a decrease of 185 people from the previous month.
Regional and National Unemployment Rates
- In Greater Manchester – the claimant rate fell from 4.8% to 4.6%- the number of people claiming unemployment benefit decreased by 2,767.
- In the North West as a whole – the claimant rate fell from 4.3% to 4.2% - the number of people claiming unemployment benefit fell by 6,566.
- In the UK as a whole - the claimant rate fell from 3.9% to 3.8% - the number of people claiming benefit fell by 58,059.
